Hello again,

Phew – It sure is sweltering outside, isn’t it? I have a love-hate relationship with this sort of heat. The sunshine making an appearance really does uplift your mood, and everyone seems just that little bit happier. However, sometimes it gets a little too hot to the point you’re lost on what to do with yourself.

When the temperatures rise I struggle to know how to dress myself. I wish I was one of those rare souls who could throw on anything and feel immediately at ease with their appearance, but I have so many insecurities that often hold me back from wearing what I’d really like to wear…

But, co-ordinated two pieces are truly making a name for themselves this summer. There’s something about rocking a co-ord that gives you the sensation that you have your life together. Topshop are bringing out an awesome array of two pieces consisting of a denim jacket with a matching skirt, and by doing so they’re shutting down any inhibitions one may have about double denim… Some may see it as a crime against fashion, but Topshop aren’t having any of that for a minute. I hereby declare this summer as The Summer of the Co-ords.

I invested in this gingham get-up from Nasty Gal as I instantly fell infatuated with it. It gave me such intense 1950’s vibes and was unlike any other co-ord I had seen before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an avid fan of keeping up with the trends that are around, but sometimes it’s nice to not blend in with the crowd quite as much, without making too much of a statement (Anxiety problems…)

There are a variety of aspects about this dreamy ensemble that tick all of the boxes for me. Backtracking to insecurities, I’ve mentioned to death in this blog how my legs are an infinite cause of my self-consciousness and how it’s an annual battle each summer about revealing them to the world. Dramatic, I know, but that’s the thing about insecurities – They soon take over and make you feel like it’s the end of the world. But, the convenient length of these trousers result in me feeling just that little bit more comfortably confident, which is a huge winner in my eyes.

But, I think what really won me over are the mustard-peachy tones in the gingham print. Gingham has always been a favourite of mine, and the colour here puts a unique twist on such a classic print. The elegant tie-waist of the trousers is the perfect finishing touch. Accompanied by a basket bag (yet again) my picnic get-up is pretty much sorted for the season. However, this two-piece holds so much versatility that I’m positive I’ll be sporting it in an array of scenarios and locations!

Taking the ’50’s vibes to the next level…
