Hello again,

Can you believe that we only have a month and a bit of this year left? It’s as if I blinked and eleven months passed. When it gets to this time of year, I can’t help but begin to fall into a state of nostalgia about what has so quickly passed us by. During a recent moment of reflection, I got to reminiscing on fashion trends that have took 2017 by storm. Many of these include garments that I wouldn’t have been seen dead in last year. But that’s not because they wouldn’t have been deemed fashionable; I just simply wasn’t comfortable enough in myself to sport them. Expression and experimentation through fashion, aesthetics and visuals has definitely benefited my lack of confidence almost subconsciously…

An example of such trends is definitely patent items. To be honest, up until late last year I had never been an avid fan of such a look. However, seeing some of my style icons prove that it can be styled right definitely fed me some inspiration to try and attempt this myself. I seized the opportunity when I came across this beauty of a jacket in the New Look sale.

This material gives the classic look of a biker jacket such an individualistic spin. It’s a modern take on a ’90s asset – a time period of style I am much in favour of. I added to the ’90s vibe by combining this beauty of a jacket with a pair of vintage Levi 501s, finished with a raw hem. Raw hem jeans are most definitely another trend that didn’t shy away from us this year.

Despite the weather getting colder by the day, I added a pair of pointed slingbacks to the ensemble. However, for practicality, I’d definitely opt for a pair of Doc Martens boots or brogues as an alternative!

So that’s a wrap…

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading into my latest investment of the patent jacket of dreams… Until next time,

Thanks for Reading | Lucy Violet x
